Sacramento Regional Transit is considering three possible scenarios for the future transit provision for the region and would like you views on which to adopt.  Maps showing the main projects/changes are attached, however, in summary the scenarios are:
Scenario

Description

Revenue Requirements

Scenario A: Base Case - Financially Constrained to Existing Sources

Continues with current service and includes the following:

  • Extends light rail to Richards Boulevard, to Cosumnes River College and double tracks the Blue Line as part of the Northeast Corridor Enhancements
  • Adds limited-stop peak services on the Blue and Gold lines
  • Cameras installed at 50 light rail stations
  • Review and revise the bus network to make best use of finite resources
  • Capable of being funded with existing funding sources (i.e. Measure 'A')

    Scenario B: Blueprint and MTP2035

Consistent with SACOG's Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP2035) and will enhance service and includes the following:

  • Extend light rail to the airport
  • Streetcar services in Rancho Cordova and Downtown/West Sacramento
  • An increase of fixed-route bus services by 150%, including more neighborhood shuttles
  • Paratransit services provided with increased passenger services
  • High frequency, express services running in carpool lanes
  • Enhanced Bus Service – upgraded vehicles, signage and waiting areas
  • Will require Measure 'A' plus an additional source. SACOG, as part of the MTP2035, assumed an additional ¼¢ sales tax.

    Scenario C: Integrated Transit Solution

Extends the transit offer beyond the MTP2035 providing a fully integrated package that will link transit services with transportation demand management (TDM) and transit oriented development (TOD) policies and projects.
Scenario C includes all of the features of Scenario B and adds the following:

  • Improvements to stops & stations
  • Increasing service frequencies
  • Extends light rail to Elk Grove, Citrus Heights and Roseville
  • A comprehensive streetcar network linking West Sacramento, Davis, Broadway, Railyards, Midtown, Cal Expo and Point West
  • A 250% increase in bus service hours and includes 10/20/30 minute services
  • New stops and shelters across the network
  • Better access to the transit network
  • Not costed, but will require more funding than Scenario B.
