Steer Davies Gleave, formed in 1978, has over 350 staff worldwide and is one of Europe's largest independent transport consultancies and has experience from a wide range of strategy development and transit projects. Steer Davies Gleave has been working in Canada since 1997 and opened an office in Vancouver in 2005. Full details can be found at www.steerdaviesgleave.com.
Steer Davies Gleave's approach to transit planning and delivery advocates an integrated approach that sees transit as a catalyst for realising wider land use, sustainability, development and social objectives.  This approach "Puts the Passenger First" and in this respect they offer a detailed understanding of the key design and operational characteristics required for successful transit planning.  This covers issues such as wider network integration, alignment and stop design, interchanges, vehicle layouts and characteristics, fares and ticketing, operational issues including end-to-end journey speeds, frequency, reliability and punctuality, priority at intersections and "softer" passenger issues of safety and security, weather protection, information and timetables, convenient and affordable ticketing and the real and perceived barriers to modal interchange.
Over the last decade, Steer Davies Gleave has worked on over 30 public transit projects worldwide and their experience extends from master planning studies through to implementation and funding. In the last three years alone, the company has helped its clients secure over $5 billion worth of funding for transit schemes.
