Edinburgh Fastlink
Edinburgh Fastlink is the newest way of getting into the city centre by bus. A guided busway provides a fast, efficient modern bus service to the city centre, giving passengers quicker journeys when travelling between the Gyle and the West End.
At 1.5 km long, the dedicated two-lane busway is separate from the main road, and is the longest section of continuous guideway in the UK.
Four new bus stops have been provided on the guideway at Broomhouse East, Broomhouse West, Saughton East and Saughton West, each of which benefit from Real-Time Information displays. To improve journey times even more, green bus priority lanes make up much of the rest of the route. This combination of guideway and bus lanes gives buses a clear route through the traffic at the busiest times of the day.
Fifty buses - including thirty brand-new, state of the art vehicles bought by Lothian Buses at a cost of £4m - are dedicated to the Fastlink service and operate along the new guideway on the Lothian Service 22 and 2 routes.
